BLOG ONE - March 10, 2017

1. What have you accomplished?

  • Our accomplishments include: a finalized schedule, a mentor assigned, and the proposal turned in early.

2. What has gone wrong?

  • Well, from the start, my group and I were planning to do this project with just the three of us, but that wasn't the case. Last Saturday, Audrey went to Joeten Kiyu Library to check and tell our mentor some updates. In the process, she learned that Americorp is doing the exact same thing we wanted to do. So, now, we have to collaborate with Americorp and that kinda brings us down because we really wanted this project to be ours.

3. What challenges have you faced?

  • Transportation and family is a huge problem. My group and I plan to go to the library every Saturday, but family gets in the way a lot. Another problem is that both my parents have work on Saturday so no one else can take care of my sisters. I would bring them to the library with me, but I don't have the transportation to do so. I'm really hoping I figure something out.

4. What have you learned through the process?

  • This project is not going to be as easy as I thought it would be and my group and I can expect to run into some bumps on the road. Plans don't always work out and sometimes you have to make some adjustments.

5. How have your skills improved over the past week?

  • I learned how to write a proposal, make adjustments, communicate and collaborate with peers, and expect the unexpected.

6. Are you on track for an on-time delivery?

  •  We are partially on track for the on-time delivery because we've finished most of the assignments (i.e. proposal) that was due around last week, but unfortunately we miss one and that was the letter of request.

7. What adjustments need to be made on the timeline?

  • We need to fix up the schedule because we have a finalized one.

8. My next action is….

  • My group and I are going to the library this Saturday to submit the letter of request and work with the kids for the first time. We also need to revise the proposal.
